I've been sitting on this story for a while. The fact is I'm not a fantasy writer. I'm a horror writer. Ask me where to get a horror novel published, and I'll give you ten answers. Ask me where to get a fantasy novel published, and I have no clue. And then there's that whole thing where people are like, "You you gotta write your different genre stuff under a pen name." Why? I guess people get mad if they buy a horror novel and get a fantasy novel or something. It doesn't make sense to me, so I said, screw it, and I went ahead and started releasing chapters of The Bardtender on my Substack for my paid subscribers.
What is The Bardtender about? It's about a motley crew of rejects who spend their time swilling mead in a bar called The Harpy's Teat. The Bardtender, once a famous adventurer, now spends his days slinging suds in a fantasy version of Cheers. Only thing is, every night, something horrible happens to him and his friends. The next day, they wake up, have more adventures, and die once again.
It's dark, comedic, juicy, and if you like weird, it's about as weird as it can get. If you want to check it out, click the link to go and check out my Substack and sign up to read it! Nobody stacks subs like Jacy! Take me to that Substack!
